Martin Backhausen

About Martin Backhausen

Martin Backhausen provides decades of knowledge and expertise as a musician and music business specialist. Throughout his remarkable 30-year career, he has been a part of various bands spanning multiple genres. He is proficient on a variety of musical instruments, including guitar, bass, drums, piano, violin, trumpet, and tuba. He is motivated by his devotion to family, music, and creativity whether he is at home, in the studio, or in the community.

Martin Backhausen is a great music producer, songwriter, and musician who applies all of his musical experiences today. He likes jam sessions and nurturing his most important musicians – his children — while he is not in the studio. He also finds time to provide free piano lessons, volunteer at his local Boys and Girls Club, and lead his church's praise squad.

Professional Development

Backhausen is a skilled musician, songwriter, and music producer who can play musical instruments both by ear and by sight. As with many other music producers, he began his professional career as a member of his church's youth praise team. His talent to play the guitar, piano, and drums soon distinguished him.

With his ability on full show, Backhausen and a few close mates formed an 80's rock band that played popular song covers. Throughout the region, the band was regularly booked at prominent nightclubs and events. His cover band was even requested to open for top-selling musicians touring the area. Martin Backhausen's 80s rock band forayed into punk rock and pop songs in the late 1990s. Martin first tried his mettle in the worlds of R&B and neo-soul after playing bass in a jazz ensemble. It was here that he honed his writing and music composing abilities.

Backhausen now uses his unique cross-genre skills to cross-breed sounds and write music for nearly every industry. He is the go-to music producer for punk rock, R&B, country music, neo-soul, and any other genre that has vocals. In this role, he collaborates with some of the most well-known musicians to arrange compositions, oversee recording sessions, and even make ideas and improvements to musical effects, instruments, and lyrics. Martin likes identifying and developing fresh talent when he isn't managing project finances, coordinating musical arrangements, or creating songs.

Academic Qualifications

Martin Backhausen, unlike many other musicians, is able to perform music by ear. As a result, he can just hear a song or sound and recreate it using a variety of instruments. While his natural skill has always qualified him as a superior musician, he attended Full Sail University to further establish himself as a classically trained musician, musical composer, and producer. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music Production from Full Sail University in 2004. This B.S. degree was designed to provide Backhausen a thorough grasp of music production and composition. He also learnt a variety of fundamental concepts and recording methods that have served him well throughout his career. He also trains and is certified in a variety of digital audio workstations (DAWs), including Ableton Live, Image-Line FL Studio, Apple Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Steinberg Cubase, and others.

Backhausen pursued a Master of Music in Music Production at Berklee Online after receiving his B.S. from Full Sail University. The power of DAW-based music technology was merged with the most inventive, creative music production approaches in this graduate program. Backhausen received training in sophisticated mastering, mixing, and recording techniques as part of the curriculum. The training also focused on essential aspects such as independent producer business sustainability, audio for visual media, and vocal production. He now combines his inherent musical aptitude with his academic studies to produce magic both in and out of the studio.

Private Life

The music never stops for Martin Backhausen! While writing music for an upcoming musician in the Orlando, FL region in 2004, he met a young cinematography student who would soon become his wife. The two instantly hit a chord and had perfect intonation. Although his wife, Brenda, was more interested in film and cinema, the two had a strong love and enthusiasm for the arts and creativity. Martin and Brenda married in 2009 and had their first child, a boy, in 2013. The Backhausens then brought boy and girl twins into the mix in 2015.

The Backhausens are, as one might expect, a musically and artistically minded family. James, his eldest son, follows in his father's footsteps and has a strong interest in music. James frequently visits the recording studio with his father and has a strong interest in musical creation and production. While the twins are still young, they are both quite involved in the local little theater and have their own YouTube channel, which is gradually gaining a large audience.
